A CONVERSATION WITH DUTCH PEDICURIST EVA JANSEN ON FOOT CARE, FUNGAL NAILS & GLOBAL DIFFERENCES
At Imperial Feet, we're proud to support professionals around the world who are passionate about proper foot care. This week, our owner Sylke Bommel sat down with Eva Jansen, a certified pedicurist from the Netherlands, to talk about her favorite treatments, the secret to successful fungal nail care, and why the Dutch take foot care to a whole new level.
Meet Eva Jansen
Based in Utrecht, Eva has been treating feet for over a decade. She’s known not only for her precise techniques and compassionate care but also for educating her clients on the why behind every treatment. And when it comes to fungal nails? She’s seen it all and helped hundreds of clients walk away confidently.
The Treatment She Swears By
“I love treating fungal nails,” Eva says without hesitation. “People often come in feeling ashamed, hiding their feet, sometimes even for years. Watching them regain confidence over time, it’s the best part of my job.”
Her go-to product? The Imperial Feet Fungal Nail Solution.
“I've tried many treatments over the years, but this one delivers real results. It’s oil-based, so it penetrates deeply into the nail, and it’s easy for clients to use at home.”
But she’s quick to point out: the product is just one part of the process.
“I always e-file the nail first, removing loose keratin so the product can absorb properly. Then I talk with clients about daily hygiene: clean socks, breathable shoes, and consistent application. That’s where real healing begins.”
The Dutch Difference in Foot Care
Sylke: ''What sets Dutch foot care apart from other countries?''
Eva:
There are a few key differences:
-
Foot care is considered part of health care here. Many clients are referred by doctors, especially those with conditions like diabetes or arthritis. Treatments can even be covered by insurance in some cases.
-
Education is strict and professional. Dutch pedicurists go through certified training programs. There’s a clear distinction between cosmetic pedicures and medical foot care.
-
Prevention is everything. Clients don’t just come in before a holiday or when something hurts. Many visit every 6–8 weeks as a preventive measure—just like seeing a dentist or physiotherapist.
Advice for Pedicurists
For professionals wanting to raise the bar, Eva’s advice is clear:
-
Invest in education.
"Understand the anatomy, skin conditions, and how to recognize problems early." -
Use trusted, effective products.
"Imperial Feet products are part of my toolkit every day, they deliver results I can stand behind." -
Take your time.
"Don’t rush through treatments. Listen to the client. Look closely. Feet tell you a lot, if you know how to read them."
Sylke: ''Before we wrap up, what’s one foot care tip you wish everyone followed?''
Eva: Moisturize daily! And I don’t mean a quick rub with hand lotion. Use a proper foot cream that hydrates and softens without clogging. Dry, cracked skin can quickly become painful or even infected. Just 30 seconds a day makes a huge difference.
Walking the Talk, One Step at a Time
At Imperial Feet, we believe feet deserve expert care, global standards, and trusted products. And thanks to professionals like Eva Jansen, we’re proud to see that happening in treatment rooms across the Netherlands - and beyond.
