Feet Are the Foundation of Everything – Interview with Foot Specialist Kim
With ten years of experience and a heart for helping others, Kim brings care, precision, and Dutch practicality to every treatment - and she’s been walking hand in hand with Imperial Feet since the very beginning.
From Passion to Profession
In her cozy salon in Hellevoetsluis, the Netherlands, Kim has spent the last decade helping people feel confident on their feet again.
“I’ve been a pedicurist for ten years now,” she shares. “I love seeing the difference good footcare can make , whether it’s comfort, confidence, or simply the relief of walking pain-free.”
Kim treats a variety of conditions -from fungal nails and cracked heels to corns and warts - and trusts Imperial Feet products every step of the way.
“I’ve worked with Imperial Feet from the very beginning,” she says. “It’s a trusted brand. The products are just really good.”
Her go-to favorites? The Nail Mycosis Solution and the Urea Foot Balm. “They deliver real results and my clients love that they’re made in the Netherlands, with no harsh chemicals.”
The Dutch Mindset: Practical, But Sometimes Too Modest
When it comes to footcare culture, Kim observes something uniquely Dutch.
“Many Dutch people are modest - they think, ‘It’s fine, I’ll manage.’ They’ll wait until something really hurts before visiting a specialist,” she laughs. “But prevention is key! Feet are the foundation of everything - you stand on them every single day.”
The climate and lifestyle also play a role. “We rarely wear open shoes here,” Kim explains. “That means feet don’t get enough air, which can lead to fungal issues. It’s something small, but it really matters.”
Challenges Behind the Scenes
Running an independent footcare practice in the Netherlands isn’t always easy. “There’s a lot of administration - hygiene regulations, insurance forms — it can be a lot,” Kim admits. “And of course, the seasons matter. In summer, everyone wants beautiful feet for their sandals. But in winter? People forget they even have them!”
She also points out a common misconception:
“People often think pedicures are purely cosmetic. But true footcare is preventive and medical — it’s about health, not vanity.”
A Vision for the Future
Kim believes there’s great potential to elevate the footcare profession across the Netherlands.
Her ideas?
-
A national awareness campaign about foot health.
-
Stronger collaboration with doctors and physiotherapists.
-
More professional recognition through clear certifications.
-
And above all, ongoing education for specialists.
“When we show our expertise, people start to understand that professional footcare is essential - not just a luxury,” she says.
Dreaming Big with Imperial Feet
Kim’s imagination doesn’t stop at treatments. She has big dreams for future product innovations too.
-
“A Four Seasons Line - warming balm for winter, cooling spray for summer - would be amazing.”
-
“Or a Cyclist’s Balm, for all of us Dutch people who live on our bikes!”
-
“And definitely a sustainable, refillable line - my clients really care about that.”
-
“Oh, and a Dutch Edition scent - something with tulip, sea breeze, or fresh linen. That would be so fun!”
Care You Can Trust
When it comes to recommending products, Kim doesn’t hesitate.
“I always recommend homecare,” she says. “Clients trust what I use in my salon - and Imperial Feet products help them continue caring for their feet the right way.”
Her philosophy is simple yet powerful:
“Footcare isn’t a luxury. It’s self-respect. You walk on your feet every day - they deserve care.”
